We welcome abstracts for oral presentations and posters on recent research and program initiatives relevant to indigenous health promotion and local food system development, as well as stories that examine the important role of traditional food production, gathering, and preparation for tribes. Presentations will be around 15 minutes with additional time for questions.

Specifically, we are looking for presentations in the following categories:

  • Oral Presentations and Poster Presentations that outline recent research and/or program initiatives relevant to indigenous health promotion and local food system development, to shed light on real life challenges and evidence-based solutions.
  • Storytelling that highlights the important role of traditional food production, gathering, and preparation for tribes, as well as the intersection between food, culture, and health.
  • Organizations working to strengthen Native American health and food sovereignty that can share information regarding resources, project sustainability, and other success stories to give guidance to others.

These presentations will be organized in the following tracks:

  • Health and Nutrition
  • Planning and Evaluation
  • Advocacy and Policy Development
  • Funding and Asset Building
  • Program Sustainability and Capacity Building
  • Cultural Revitalization and Traditions

Each registrant can submit up to three abstracts. The abstract submission deadline is July 10, 2017. You can download the abstract submission form here (link), or see a summary of the information you will need to submit an abstract below:

  • Contact information for each presenter/author, including name, email, short biography, job title, organization, and sector (i.e. education, government, public health, etc.)
  • Presentation information, including category, title, description, and track
